Sunshine and showers

sunshine and showers

The course explores a series of paradoxes – ideas and beliefs we hold in our minds which contradict each other, and seemingly can't both be true, but somehow are. Like a weather forecast for sunshine and showers. Two types of weather, both valid, even when they don't go together.
Sunshine and Showers is a six-week course allowing small groups to explore aspects of the Christian faith together.
'Prayer's beautiful messiness'
Rather than seeking to find simplistic answers, the course encourages participants to find peace in the mystery of prayer; to be able to pray despite the confusion. We embrace our experiences of prayer, feel liberated and be reassured that there is good news in the mystery.

  • Prayer as friendship: is prayer boring, or life-giving?
  • Praying as rhythm: do we pray sometimes, or all the time?
  • Forms of prayer: are your prayers eloquent, or silent?
  • When prayer is hard: does God feel absent, or present?
  • Prayers for healing: do you get answers, or no answers?
  • Answering prayers ourselves: does God act, or do we act to answer prayers?.
